In the real world, I am, coincidentally, flat-hunting [Aug. 8th, 2007|11:03 pm]
An entry for Laurel's Moving In Challenge - boy, this was written in too much of a hurry. Also, I don't think it's quite canon-compliant since DH, but the details easy to glaze over ;).

Title: Brothers at King's Cross
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: The rating is purely for excessive swears and vague mentions of violence.
Summary: Sirius has too much to protect, and brothers don't always make happy flatmates.

Lalla Ward is married to Richard Dawkins!?!?excess punctuation!!?!?!

Well, sure, now I think about it, Douglas Adams wrote her introductory ep in Doctor Who, and Dawkins seems to have been friends with Adams, so sure, now it kind of makes sense. But it's a bit of a shock when you've been reading wikipedia articles on Romana at 1am and turn to Dawkins' book only to find her name popping up there as well. And saying witty things, like she just strolled in.

My respect for both of them has risen considerably. It's kind of like someone tried to make Time Lords by selective breeding or something.

[music |John Butler Trio - Oldman]

I really hate making a fuss about things.

Nevertheless, there has to be some kind of message up here that makes me looking like a living entity and not some kind of small mammal that hibernates a lot in hot weather.

Tomorrow (great Gods and small fishes, tomorrow! I have endeaveroured not to panic but it's getting increasingly difficult) I am moving cities to attend Uni at Otago, the great NZ cauldron on student life. I'll be studying Genetics in order to achieve my dream of being one of those scientists who goes into hiding on a volcanic island, and has things gestating in glass vats, and wears a mask a lot. They're cool, right?

Anyway, I'll have limited access in the internet and even less time off from burning couches socialising studying. Essentially I'll be retreating from fandom, which does make me sad but is probably healthy overall, and I thought I should leave this note here in case any asks where I've gone. Not that I actively participate in fandom in any shape or form, but I'll still miss its choatic, emotional swings.

One day I'd like to do a psychology Phd and writing a thesis on net Fandoms. You can all expect to see your names on it when I do.

Cheers, and good luck,
Tawa

The final 3 Doctors [Nov. 24th, 2006|11:16 pm]
[Current Location |The Insane Edge of School Exams]
[mood | lazy]
[music |Dropkick Murphys - I'm Shipping Up To Boston]

Who would you want to see as the next three Doctors? Like, let's say we have no boundries on time or space. Any actor at all. Even if you don't watch Doctor Who, who would you want to see as a timetravelling alien coming to your screen soon?

For me, 11th would be Bill Nighy.
Because, as everyone knows, Doctor Who is going downhill with all the Unresolved Sexual Tension and the Doctor's Sekrit Love Interest Companions and the way the Doctor doesn't really focus on morals as much as he used to. So let's totally bring in a Doctor that has all that bursting out on the surface! He flirts with women 1/45th of his age! He has no scruples! He looks fantastic despite being old enough to have fed David Tennant his bottle! Bill Nighy would rock, for serious. Also the interweb tells me he was shortlisted for the 10th Doctor so maybe there's still a chance this one could come true.

12th Doctor would be Judi Dench
Because at least one of the Doctor's regenrations should be a woman. And it would suck if she was young and buxom and only there for shits and giggles. Judi Dench embodies everything the classic Doctors stood for. None of this Rose/Dr=OTP!!1! nonsense for her. Her companions will be loved, but obedient. Plus Dench has to be this century's greatest actress. If she could travel in time, she could be every century's greatest actress.

13th Doctor would be Cillian Murphy
Meh, I just love his accent and his blue, blue eyes. Also he has that slightly alien look about him. As a final Doctor, he could be really moody and sarcastic and grizzle at his companions a lot but secretly wuv them, and it would be great. Kind of like House but with more space-time dimensions and less stubble. Unfortunately, by the time they're in need of the 13th Doctor Cillian Murphy might be old and saggy.

I finally saw the 1996 movie. LULZ. It's so nineties but dammit, why doesn't 8th have his own series? He is fantasticallity incarnate.

Real Life is slashier than fandom [Oct. 18th, 2006|06:44 pm]
[Current Location |A long cold shower]
[mood | contemplative]
[music |Regina Spektor - Raindrops]

So at our school, when you're in year 13 (last year of HS) you get to wear casual clothes all the time. But because it was our last mufti day today, our Head asked us all to wear our uniform one last time. Most people did, even going as far to borrow off their siblings if they'd already burned theirs.

And some of the guys? Decided they'd borrow off their sisters.

It was kind of confusing, seeing this short-haired girl from the back, and then she'd turn around and - OH SHOOT, that's Matt, or Kyle, or Toby with the nice round childbearing hips. But I love that the guys at my school are silly enough to do that (especially David in the summer dress, who kept count of the number of teachers who called him "gorgeous" or wolf-whistled.) I nearly cracked a rib in chemistry, because these guys were deliberately flashing their thighs to each other across the classroom. Copious hair and all.

Now, here's the pickle of it all. I... really liked the look of one of the guys in girl's uniform. I kept telling myself it was because he looked Scottish ('twas the woollen socks that did it). But worst of all this guy isn't my guy. Dangnammit, I hate being a hormonal teenager. I'll avoid Scottish guy for the rest of the week.

(Oh, and I joined in and wore a uniform. I borrowed it from my friend who goes to a Christian school on the other side of town, with the opposite colours to our school, and walked round in that all day. It was fun.)

I'm such a speculationite [Jul. 25th, 2006|07:16 pm]
[Current Location |Procrastinating]
[mood | geeky]
[music |Dangerous Game - Jekyll & Hyde soundtrack]

Ok, I was talking to my friend James about Horcruxes. As you do, I'm sure. I was complaining about how convinced I'd been that the Sorting Hat was a horcrux before JKR shot that theory down on her website. That got us talking about if the hat had been a Horcrux and Voldemort had come to mock Dumbledore's portrait, you know, "Ha! Stupid old man! It was under your nose the whole friggin' time!" Not that he would actually do that, but still.

Then I thought: you know what would be an awesome 7th book battle scene? Harry vs. Voldemort in Dumbledore's office, with the Dumbledore portrait cheering them on... and then Voldemort turns around and Sectum Sempra's the portrait. Rips it to shreds. Man, Harry would be so angry. *cackles*

I don't know why Voldemort would be in Hogwarts. Or Harry for that matter. Maybe Voldemort came to kidnap Ginny to use against him or something, and Harry ("...don't you think you've got a bit of a - a - saving people thing?") comes charging up to the school to save her. Does Voldemort even know the Sectum Sempra spell? Or did Snape never tell it to anyone?

K, I should stop writing JKR's book for her now.

My Boyfriend is Severus Snape O.O [May. 29th, 2006|04:45 pm]
[mood | shocked]
[music |Keyboard a-tip-tapping]

Black greasy hair, large hooked nose, thinnish face, black eyes. The only thing missing is the sallow skin and bad teeth (thank GOD). My boyfriend (bless him) is Severus Snape incarnate - only, without the nasty, unforgiving, judgemental, slimy and murderous parts of his personality. This has taken me - well, if you count how long I've known him - about a year and a half to figure out.

And I don't even think Snape is that sexy. Which is opposite to what I think about the dear bf. This seems to be a complete coincidence coupled with an overactiver obsession with HP. My life just got several notches better.

You know what this makes me? This makes me the Lover of Severus SnapeTM.

Lost: Young Man [Nov. 6th, 2005|04:39 pm]
[mood | groggy]
[music |Tal Bachman - She's so High]

It's coming...it's coming...chapter 22 is being beta-read as we speak, and I know it is very, very, late, but it will be here, I promise. I haven't died or converted to MPREG or anything, everything is just taking a little longer than I thought...
In other news, I haven't been here for two days because it was my mum's fiftieth birthday and she invited everyone she knew to a giant grownups sleepover in a lodge in the mountains. Random, yes, a sleepover for a whole bunch of middle-aged scientists, but I had to come along to look after everyone's children, so I haven't had computer access. And I am now feeling exhausted and a bit sick from too much microwave cheesecake, so I might go sleep. Night.
